Swallow : Blow : Flow 2015

sound drawing, copper wire, chalk, wood, stone and music of our world

Three drawings made of copper wired as double fonction: a visual (non-cochlear) graphical score and an antenna to transmit soundscape (cochlear) recorded in the environment of the museum and the Thye region. Sounds from underwater, windmills, electrical cables, ant activities, bats sonar and electromagnetic storms in the stratosphere.

Nantes based artists Jenny Pickett and Julien Ottavi have been collaborating since 2008. Taking electromagnetic phenomena as a starting point for their audio creations. They have produced various scores and installations for dual audio synths/oscillators/DIY electronics etc…which reflect patterns and electromagnetic events such as solar flares and inner city mobile phone mast end as well as the unfathomable audio world of kitchen appliances and other inaudible sounds found in nature. Through their artworks performances the duo tunnel deep into the world of frequency, static and sound as a physical experience. They have performed and exhibited their works at various events, galleries and festivals in Berlin, London, Nantes, Marseille.
